My Submission for Indigo's Mother Tongue competition:
In Norse mythology, one was considered to have great wisdom should they possess the ability to understand the mystical and divine language of the birds. Huginn and Muninn were two ravens of the god Odin who flew around the world and would tell Odin the happenings of mortal men. This piece is a celebration of the beauty and mystical nature that comes with language and the folk tales that language creates. I want to celebrate language as not only a means of communication, but as one of our greatest forms of expression. Folk tales and stories are not only a great example of this expression but it tells a lot about our cultures and their peoples mother tongue.

A detail of the poem that inspired me.

The drawings that led me to my final piece.
